The Season of Don’t Come Too Close

Contemporary folk illustration of a Canada goose with wings raised, standing in grass with a sky-blue circle behind it and bold French text: “Section fermée. Nidification en cours.” A wildlife illustration by Nadia Di Fiore.

This eye-catching illustration features a Canada goose mid-strut, wings raised and eyes alert, giving off the unmistakable attitude of “not today, human.” The background is graphic and straightforward: a soft blue circle suggests the sky, while a splash of olive green represents spring grass. Bold text reads: “Section fermée. Nidification en cours.” In other words, there’s a nest nearby, and visitors are kindly encouraged to keep moving.

Balancing humour with respect for wildlife, the piece was designed to raise awareness during nesting season. It reminds people to give birds the space they need to do their thing undisturbed.

Created for Héritage Laurentien, the illustration was hand-drawn in Procreate, one line at a time.
