Reading Is Still a Tactic
A bear wearing a birthday hat sits quietly in his favourite corner of the bookstore, surrounded by shelves of radical books and life-changing paperbacks. He showed up for the party but ended up with Le Libertaire in his paws.
This illustration was created for the 20th anniversary of L’Insoumise, an anarchist bookstore in Montreal named after Louise Michel, an educator, writer, and unapologetically insubordinate figure. It celebrates two decades of collective thinking, organizing, and survival in print.
The illustration was hand-drawn with a stylus and designed for posters and T-shirts.
